This week we commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation with clips from the 1953 film “Martin Luther,” shown in Protestant churches throughout the United States and Canada. Luther’s insistence of “sola scriptura,” the Bible as the only authority for faith, is a cornerstone of the Protestant Reformation and fundamental to our Adventist faith. Also featured this week are the schools affected by the California fires. We’ve got footage of Redwood Adventist Academy and an interview with Dee Ross, a staff member at RAA, who spent time at the site searching through the rubble. Recently, 30 Seventh-day Adventist leaders from across the nation met up in Pasadena, California, for training in a groundbreaking curriculum that is transforming churches into places of renewal for all generations. To learn more about “Growing Young Adventists,” visit:

In honor of the anniversary of the Reformation, we’ve got a segment of the concert by the award-winning international chorale – the Philippine Meistersingers – who were hosted in June at the Loma Linda Filipino Adventist Church, singing Martin Luther’s great hymn, “A Mighty Fortress is Our God.” To watch their performance, visit:

“We must obey God rather than men” Acts 5:29: (RSV)
“The just shall live by faith.” Romans 1:17 (KJV)

“I cannot submit my faith either to the pope or to the councils because it is clear as the day that they have frequently erred and contradicted each other. Unless therefore I am convinced by the testimony of Scripture…I cannot and I will not retract, for it is unsafe for a Christian to speak against his conscience. Here I stand, I can do no other; may God help me. Amen.” —Martin Luther, before the Diet of Worms, 1521
