Ministries of ASI (Adventist-laymen’s Services and Industries) have busied themselves during COVID with outreach and the development of new resources for church members.

Build and Restore and F5 Challenge Help Family in Shasta County

In mid-January, Sacramento-based ministry Build and Restore International collaborated with fitness group F5 Challenge to help a family in need on their farm in Shasta County, Calif.

On Sunday, Jan. 17, volunteers showed up with garden gloves, pruning shears, and other tools to help the Knutson family pour gravel, put up new fencing, plant trees, split wood, move rocks, and much more. The volunteers shared that they were blessed with perfect weather during their seven-hour work bee.

During their time on the farm, the volunteers gathered for a devotional where the Knutson’s shared the story of their tragic car accident in July of 2019 in which they lost their 10-year-old daughter and MaryAnn became paralyzed from her chest down.

“While they [the Knutsons] have been going through the hardest trial of their lives, they continue to inspire all of us by their amazing attitude and total trust in God,” shared Ostap Dzyndra, founder and president of Build and Restore.

Sacred Sound Foundation Works to Produce KnowHymn App

During COVID, one ministry of ASI has worked on yet another form of outreach—an app that will provide quality piano accompaniments for churches who do not have a pianist.

KnowHymn is an iPhone and Android app that will have the lyrics and tracks for all 695 hymns in the Adventist hymnal. Once launched, the app will feature over 45 hours’ worth of piano recordings from the current hymnal. The app will also include background stories and biographical sketches of the authors and composers of each hymn.

Erwin Gabriel Nanasi, co-founder of Sacred Sound Foundation and virtuoso pianist, began the project in his home studio in Placer County, Calif. Though the project is not yet fully funded, launch of the app is anticipated during the spring of 2021.

“It is our desire that every Seventh-day Adventist is equipped and encouraged in worshiping God anytime, anywhere,” Nanasi said.

To sample songs from the app, visit www.knowhymn.org, or search for @knowhymn on social media.
