“Your love has given me much joy and comfort, my brother, for your kindness has often refreshed the hearts of God’s people.” –Philemon 1:7

A Joyful Noise

My granddaughters, ages 6 and 4, make a “joyful noise” when they’re splashing in the pool; when they’re playing hide and seek and trying so hard to keep quiet while hiding, then bursting with joyful noises when they are found. The birds in the tree right outside my back patio make joyful chirps and sing songs of joy each morning; I find that songs of joy are what my heart is gravitating towards during these times. I turned to Psalm 100 this morning for my devotional reading: “Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing” Psalm 100:1-2 (ESV). May songs of joy fill your heart today!

Lodi Fairmont Church Hosts Drive-Through Prayer Parade

On a Sabbath in late April, the Lodi Fairmont church hosted a drive-through prayer parade with the permission of the local police department. About 100 people (in more than 40 vehicles) came through the church parking lot to see leaders and volunteers holding encouraging signs. Those in cars and trucks displayed their own signs and greeted each other from a distance. The idea for the parade came from head elder Ray Brown. “One of the best parts was seeing the smiles on people’s faces because they were connecting again,” he said. “We had several people come to the prayer parade that hadn’t come to church in years.”

P.S. Did You Hear?

Martin Luther once said, “To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.”
