Thunderbird Adventist Academy Principal Drives 300 Hours to Deliver Graduation Gowns

This year’s theme for the school year at Thunderbird Adventist Academy (TAA) in Scottsdale, Ariz., is “Family”—and for the school faculty, being family means breaking through barriers and overcome obstacles to be there for each other. In keeping with that theme, Principal Jeff Rogers and other staff members took the time to deliver to the seniors yard signs on May 1 as a small token to celebrate them, along with students’ graduation packet with cap, gown and regalia. Not only were the signs showing the community that TAA cares and supports their seniors, but on the back of each sign staff members wrote individual notes to them. Tanna Allison, vice principal for advancement, shared, “In this time of distance, we wanted our seniors to know they were close to our hearts and that we were cheering them on celebrating their achievements as they looked forward to graduating.”

The school staff gathered in front of the school (standing the proper distance apart) and watched students and parents drive by holding signs of appreciation. The local police, sheriff, and fire departments also participated in the parade. In addition, teachers received gifts delivered to their homes.

Summit Christian Academy Classroom Theme Inspires Creativity and Kindness

Prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, students entering the third and fourth grade classroom at Summit Christian Academy in Salt Lake City, Utah, stepped back in time to the medieval era. Castle walls, a ‘knight’ guarding the doorway, a throne flanked by lions, and dungeon doors helped stir imagination and ignite creative writing skills. “The students loved dressing up as lords, ladies, princes, princesses, and knights for ‘court’ on Friday mornings,” shared the school staff. To encourage the development of life skills based on the Fruits of the Spirit, students were “knighted” for acts of kindness to fellow-classmates. Their positive influence was felt throughout the school!
