Recently, Pleasant Hill Academy had an impactful fall week of prayer. Leif Cano, Placerville church associate pastor, spent the week with students, sharing a themed message of God's acceptance. The daily messages resonated with seven students who committed to be baptized.
As Jea, one of the seven, told of her experience, "During the week, I hadn't considered being baptized, but as the sermons continued, I began praying, asking the Lord to talk to me. And He did. I was on the edge of my seat, not knowing what to do when pastor Cano called for baptism."
The Holy Spirit was urging Jea to join the six others already standing. Yet she could not bring herself to do so. Cano looked out at the six standing students and exclaimed, "There is a seventh person who wishes to be baptized today." Jea's tears began to flow because, as she explained, "I knew I was the seventh person."
Before Christmas break, two students were baptized at the Vallejo Central church and two at Pleasant Hill church. The other three have scheduled their dates for the new year.
A proud and grateful parent commented, "We praise God for the decisions these seven made and the role that our schools play in the salvation of young people."

Siete responden llamado al bautismo
Recientemente, Pleasant Hill Academy tuvo una impactante semana de oración. Leif Cano, pastor asociado de la iglesia de Placerville, pasó la semana con los estudiantes, compartiendo un mensaje temático de la aceptación de Dios. Los mensajes diarios resonaron en siete estudiantes que se comprometieron a bautizarse.
Jea, una de los siete, contó su experiencia: «Durante la semana, no había considerado bautizarme, pero a medida que continuaban los sermones, comencé a orar, pidiéndole al Señor que me hablase. Y lo hizo. Estaba al borde de mi asiento, sin saber qué hacer cuando el pastor hizo un llamado al bautismo».
El Espíritu Santo estaba instando a Jea a unirse a los otros seis que ya estaban de pie. Sin embargo, no se atrevía a hacerlo. Cano miró a los seis estudiantes que estaban de pie y exclamó: «Hay una séptima persona que desea ser bautizada hoy». Las lágrimas de Jea comenzaron a fluir porque, como ella misma explicó, «sabía que yo era la séptima persona».
Antes de las vacaciones de Navidad, dos estudiantes fueron bautizados en la iglesia de Vallejo Central y dos en la iglesia de Pleasant Hill. Los otros tres han programado sus fechas para el nuevo año.
Un orgulloso y agradecido padre comentó: «Alabamos a Dios por las decisiones que tomaron esos siete y el papel que juegan nuestras escuelas en la salvación de los jóvenes».
