Last month, Riverview Christian Academy in Reno, Nevada, celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday by conducting the “Reading Across America” program at their school. Students, educators, pastors, and prominent members of the community read different books to the students. The event caught the attention of the local ABC affiliate in Reno, and they covered the story.

Janine Harrington, 3rd-grade teacher at Sacramento Adventist Academy, has owned horses her entire life. When she found out that Leoni Meadow's Cowboy Camp lost everything in the Caldor Fire, she knew something had to be done.
With the support of her husband Al and her students, they approached the Sacramento Woodside and Carmichael churches to help rebuild Cowboy Camp. Janine also approached Craig and DeeDee Lyman, the owners of Douglas Feed store for support.
The owners agreed to not only replace the tack items at cost but also start a “Round Up” campaign with their customers. On March 15, Janine took her class to Douglas Feed where they presented a check for over $23,000 to Craig Heinrich, Director of Leoni Meadows. Craig Heinrich was so grateful for how the Lord has blessed the mission of Leoni Meadows. “God answered our prayers,” he said. “Thank you to the Harringtons and Lymans, but I especially want to thank these amazing kids!”

The April Pacific Union Recorder is our 5th annual Education issue. In preparation for this special 92-page issue, our Recorder editor, Alberto Valenzuela, was privileged to visit the Adventist schools featured in the photographs.
In addition to the excellent articles in the front of the magazine about the ministry and impact of Christian education, the Education Recorder also has a directory of all of our schools and display ads for the academies. For the first time, we’ve included extended reports from La Sierra University and Pacific Union College.
