Voices in the Wilderness
(También español) Isaiah 40:3 says, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; Make straight in the desert a highway for our God’” (NKJV). Given that Holbrook Indian School (HIS) is located in the deserts of Arizona, it is not a stretch to describe several students who answered the call to speak and share God’s Word with their peers at HIS as “voices in the wilderness.”

Exploring a Future in Trade Careers

Due to the fact that a majority of our students are first-generation graduates, the idea of leaving HIS can be very intimidating. This is why we created the College and Trade Prep Program (CTPP).

Like Family
On a cold winter evening after school, Abbi and Toni arrive “home” to the delightful smell of cookies and hot chocolate. This home isn’t far away from school; in fact, it’s less than 500 yards from the main school campus. It’s a frequent place for them to unwind and chill outside of school hours. The “mother” of this home also happens to be their horsemanship class teacher, Ms. Newhart, one of the faculty members at Holbrook Indian School (HIS). She is affectionately referred to as “faculty mom” by the two students.

A Sad Week, Remembering Kiarra
On August 28, 17-year-old HIS student Kiarra Alma Gordon was killed and six others were injured during an accident involving a bus from the Holbrook Indian School. According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the bus had slowed down in traffic near a rollover crash when it was struck from behind by a semi-truck. The bus was transporting a group of staff and students on a field trip to Window Rock, New Mexico.
